• Traditional Education favoured by Universities: Academics at Buckingham University have suggested that pupils at independent schools are much more likely to win places at leading universities since they focus on rigorous areas such as mathematics, science + languages. Many "new" ; subjects, popular in the state sector, are unacceptable to institutions such as Cambridge. As it is, the top independent schools outperform state grammar schools in 24 out of 30 A-level subjects, despite the fact that grammars are often more selective and have greater competition for places.
